Your data, explained.

This explains how MealPrism handles information in its website, food diary, and iPhone test app.

What we collect and why

We store account identifiers, protected password credentials or Apple sign-in identifiers, meals, calorie and nutrient estimates, edits, saved foods, and coaching settings and conversations to provide your diary. Apple may supply an email address or a private relay address. Photos kept with a meal or saved as drafts are associated with your account.

Essential session cookies on the web and secure storage on iPhone remember your sign-in. The service uses request information, including IP-based limits, to protect accounts and manage usage. Cloud hosting and update providers process technical information needed to deliver the service.

When AI receives information

After permission, photo analysis sends your meal photo and added details or corrections to OpenAI. Text meal analysis sends the food description and corrections. Web voice transcription sends the recording to OpenAI; iPhone keyboard dictation follows your keyboard’s settings.

When you ask Coach a question or request a review, your goals, preferences, recent conversation, and recent meal details are sent to OpenAI. If you enable longer-term history, nutrition summaries and logging counts are included. Coaching does not send meal photos. OpenAI processes requests under its applicable policies and service terms; see OpenAI’s privacy information.

Apple Health and measurements

The iPhone app reads the Health categories you permit, including activity, workouts, height, and weight. Health records and measurements remain on your device unless you separately enable sharing with Coach. Approved activity summaries or confirmed measurements are then included with coaching requests through MealPrism to OpenAI. Saved coaching replies may mention that information. Revoke Health access in iPhone Settings or the Health app; manage Coach sharing in MealPrism.

Service providers and food lookups

Cloudflare hosts the app and account data. OpenAI provides AI analysis and coaching. Expo delivers app updates. Apple provides Apple sign-in and device services when used. Barcode and food searches can send product codes or food search terms to Open Food Facts or USDA FoodData Central. These providers receive the information needed for those functions.

Sharing a meal

A share card contains the chosen meal’s photo when available, name, calories, and macros. It is generated on your device or in your browser. Account details, goals, and diary history are not included. Nothing is posted automatically. Once you share a card, the destination’s privacy rules apply and others may save or reshare it.

Your controls and retention

You can edit or delete individual meals, delete saved photo drafts, forget saved foods, reset AI permissions, and turn off coaching. Logging out or resetting a permission does not delete previously saved data. Account and diary records are retained to provide your history until deleted; service-provider backup and retention practices may differ from the live diary.

For account deletion, a copy of your information, or a privacy question, contact support@mealprism.com. Account deletion is not yet a self-service feature in this test release. Do not send passwords, recovery codes, or unnecessary health details in a support request.

Scope and updates

MealPrism is intended for adults. The public website does not use advertising trackers or marketing analytics. We may update this policy when the product’s data practices change and will update the date above. Review the in-app disclosures when enabling new features.
